University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez student account questions
What happens if I have an unpaid balance at UPRM?
Any outstanding debt to UPRM — regardless of amount — will block you from selecting courses during registration. The system flags you as a deudor (debtor) and prevents enrollment until the balance is cleared. Pay online at Mi Portal Colegial (home.uprm.edu) under the Pago de Deudas icon (allow 24 hours for the system to update after online payment), or visit the Oficina de Recaudaciones window in Edificio Terrats T-108 (Mon–Fri 8:30am–11:30am and 1:00pm–4:00pm), phone (787) 832-4040 exts. 5484/2480. If you enrolled in a payment plan and miss an installment, that installment is referred to deuda and must be paid under Pago de Deudas.
What holds or blocks can prevent me from registering at UPRM?
A financial hold (any outstanding debt) will block course selection — you must clear your balance before enrollment opens. Additionally, for a total withdrawal you need sign-offs from Finance, Financial Aid, and Medical Services. Academic standing issues (probatoria or suspension) also prevent normal enrollment. Check your status at Mi Portal Colegial (home.uprm.edu). For financial holds: contact Recaudaciones at (787) 832-4040 exts. 5484/2480 or email gisselle.mendoza@upr.edu.
How do I pay my tuition or a missed payment plan installment at UPRM?
Pay online via Mi Portal Colegial (home.uprm.edu) under Pago de Matrícula (for tuition) or Plan de Pago a Plazos (for installment plan payments) — use a laptop/desktop with Mozilla Firefox. If a payment plan installment was missed and referred to deuda, pay under Pago de Deudas. In person: Recaudaciones window in Edificio Terrats T-108, Mon–Fri 8:30am–11:30am and 1:00pm–4:00pm. Accepted: cash, Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Discover, ATH, ATH Móvil, Google Pay, Apple Pay, check, money order.
Who is my Financial Aid officer at UPRM and how do I contact them?
UPRM assigns a specific Financial Aid officer to each student based on student number. Visit uprm.edu/asistenciaeconomica/personal-administrativo/ to find your assigned officer and their direct @upr.edu email address. You can also reach the Oficina de Asistencia Económica at (787) 832-4040 ext. 3863 (Decanato de Estudiantes, first floor) or book a virtual appointment at oficinavirtual.uprm.edu.
