University of Nebraska-Lincoln student account questions
What happens if I have an unpaid balance at UNL?
Delinquent accounts at UNL result in a HOLD placed on your academic records, preventing the release of diplomas and future enrollment at all NU campuses (UNL, UNO, UNMC, UNK, UNCT). A $35 late fee is assessed each month payment is not received by the 12th due date. If your account goes to collections, you may be responsible for additional costs up to 50% of the total balance (agency fees, attorney fees, court costs). Contact Student Accounts at studentaccounts@unl.edu or (402) 472-2030.
What holds can prevent me from registering at UNL?
Registration holds at UNL include: (1) Financial/past-due balance holds — placed by Student Accounts for delinquent balances; pay or set up a plan to resolve. (2) Academic Warning holds — placed when your term or cumulative GPA falls below 2.00; must complete the academic recovery process with your advisor to have the hold lifted. (3) Immunization holds — placed by University Health Center if rubeola/measles documentation is missing. (4) English proficiency holds — for non-native English undergraduate speakers placed by Admissions. Check all active holds in MyRED.
Where can I check my holds and account balance at UNL?
Log in to MyRED at myred.nebraska.edu. Under the Student Accounts tab, view your Current Balance and Payment Due amount. The message center in MyRED shows all active holds with instructions on how to resolve each one. Under Account Activity, you can see a real-time breakdown of all charges, payments, and credits.
