University of Maryland-College Park student account questions
How do I make a payment on my student account?
Students can pay online at billpay.umd.edu by eCheck (free) or credit card (2.85% fee). In-person counter service is available at 1135 Lee Building, Monday–Friday.
What is the late fee for a past-due balance?
A late fee of $10 or 5% of the past-due balance (whichever is greater) is assessed after the due date. A 1.5% monthly finance charge continues to accrue on remaining past-due balances.
What is the Terp Payment Plan and what does it cost?
The Terp Payment Plan (via Nelnet) lets students split their semester bill into monthly installments. Enrollment costs $50 per semester (non-refundable). Payments are due the 5th of each month; a $40 fee is charged for missed payments and $30 for returned ACH transactions.
What does a financial hold prevent, and how is it cleared?
A financial hold is placed for any unpaid past-due charges and prevents registration for future terms. Transcripts and diplomas are also withheld for unpaid debt. The hold is automatically removed when the account balance reaches $0.
