University of Maryland-Baltimore County student account questions
What happens if I have an unpaid balance at UMBC?
UMBC Student Business Services (SBS) assesses a late fee of 5% of your outstanding balance on the 25th of each month (first occurrence), then 1% per month thereafter (minimum $10, maximum $200 per assessment). You will not be able to register for future semesters until your balance is cleared. Diplomas are withheld until all debts are satisfied. Past-due accounts are referred to the Central Collection Unit (CCU), Maryland's state collections agency, which adds a minimum 17% fee plus any attorney and court fees. Contact SBS at 410-455-2288.
Does a financial hold at UMBC prevent me from ordering a transcript?
No. Financial holds at UMBC do NOT block you from ordering a transcript. However, financial holds will prevent registration for future semesters and your diploma will be withheld until your balance is cleared. To order a transcript, visit the Registrar's website at registrar.umbc.edu.
Where can I check my UMBC account balance and billing due dates?
Log into myUMBC (my.umbc.edu), select the Billing & Personal Finances Guide, and click Account Inquiry for your real-time balance and due date. E-bills are posted on the first business day of each month and are due on the 20th. You will receive an email notification to your UMBC email address when a new e-bill is available.
Does UMBC offer a payment plan?
Yes. UMBC offers a Monthly Payment Plan (MPP) for Fall and Spring semesters. There is a non-refundable $40 enrollment fee. You can split your balance into up to 4 installments. Missing a payment results in a $20 administrative fee and removal from the plan. All prior semester balances must be cleared before enrolling. Enroll through myUMBC (my.umbc.edu).
