Southern Oregon University student account questions
What happens if I have an unpaid balance at Southern Oregon University?
Tuition is due upon registration. If your balance is not paid by the end of the term, a $50 Continued Balance Charge is added to your account. For new students in 2025-2026 and forward, any prior balance ($0 threshold) places a Significant Balance (SB) hold on your account, blocking future registration. Balances more than 6 months overdue trigger an Internal Collections hold, also blocking registration additions. Contact Student Accounts at studentaccounts@sou.edu or 541-552-6562 Option 1 (new students) or studentbalances@sou.edu / Options 2-3 (continuing students).
What holds can prevent me from registering at Southern Oregon University?
Registration holds at SOU include: Significant Balance (SB) hold (any prior balance for 2025-2026+ new students); Academic Advising (AA) hold (must meet with your Student Success Coordinator); New Student Advising (Av) hold; Internal Collections (IH) hold (balance over 6 months old); Measles (MH) immunization hold (Oregon law requires proof of immunity if taking 9+ credits); and Revolving Charge Agreement (RV) hold (must sign RCA terms in Banner). Check your InsideSOU account to see active holds. Financial holds: studentaccounts@sou.edu. Advising holds: advising@sou.edu.
How does the SOU Revolving Charge Account (RCA) payment plan work?
The RCA lets you spread tuition payments over the length of the term at no enrollment cost. You must sign the RCA agreement in Banner Self-Service (InsideSOU) before accessing it - until you sign, a hold blocks registration. Pay your full balance by the final day of the term to avoid the $50 Continued Balance Charge. Note: if you receive financial aid, you may not be eligible for the RCA unless your aid is insufficient to cover all charges.
