What fees apply if I miss a payment or my payment is returned at SMCC?

SMCC charges $40 per semester to enroll in a payment plan. If your payment is returned due to insufficient funds or a stop payment, there is a $30 returned payment fee. SMCC does not publish a separate late fee on its public website. Contact the Student Accounts Office at smccstudentaccounts@mainecc.edu or 207-741-5530 for your current balance and any hold status.

What is SMCC's refund policy if I drop or withdraw from a course?

For credit courses: you receive a 100% refund if you drop before the end of the first 6 business days of the semester (5 days for summer). A 50% refund applies if you withdraw on business days 7–10 (not available in summer). After day 10, there is no refund. Non-attendance without completing an official withdrawal results in 0% refund at any time. Students receiving federal aid who withdraw before 60% of the semester may be required to return some aid. How do I view my bill and make a payment at SMCC?

Log in to the MySMCC portal at mainecc.sharepoint.com/sites/SMCC, then select Anthology for Students from the Quick Links menu. Go to My Finances > SMCC Payments, eRefunds, Payment Plans, then select View Activity and choose your semester. Payments can be made by debit/credit card or electronic check. When does SMCC disburse financial aid and mail refund checks?

For spring semester, financial aid is typically disbursed in late February (Spring 2026: February 27). Refund checks for excess aid are mailed about one week later (Spring 2026: March 6). Remaining charges not covered by aid are due April 1. If you need emergency assistance before your refund arrives, SMCC has a Financial Need Request Form.
