University of Oklahoma-Norman Campus student account questions

What happens if I have an unpaid balance at the University of Oklahoma?

OU does not publish a specific dollar threshold — any balance unpaid per the monthly payment plan triggers consequences. A Registration Hold blocks enrollment in future semesters. An outstanding balance at semester's end triggers a Transcript Hold (no official transcripts released) and a Graduation Hold (no diploma). A 1.5% per month (18% APR) service charge accrues on unpaid balances, plus a $50 late penalty after Nov 26, April 26, or July 26. Delinquent accounts may be referred to OU University Collections (Legal Counsel). Contact the Student Financial Center at sfc@ou.edu or (405) 325-9000.

What holds can prevent me from registering at OU?

Multiple hold types can block registration: Bursar holds (unpaid balance — contact sfc@ou.edu or 405-325-9000), Academic Advising holds (contact advising@ou.edu or 405-325-1596), College Academic holds (contact your college's advising office), Student Conduct/Academic Discipline holds (studentconduct@ou.edu), online training holds for Alcohol Policy and Sexual Assault Prevention (complete at onpoint.ou.edu), Health Center holds (405-325-4611), and International Student Services holds (iss@ou.edu). Check all active holds and contact information by logging into one.ou.edu.

You can also drop a check in the Buchanan Hall payment drop box or mail to Student Financial Center, 1000 Asp Ave., Rm. 105, Norman, OK 73019. Can I get a refund if I withdraw from OU?

Students who cancel enrollment or withdraw during the add/drop period (first two weeks of Fall/Spring, first week of Summer) receive 100% credit for tuition charges. Withdrawal after the add/drop deadline does not relieve financial obligation — 100% of tuition is owed. Title IV (federal aid) recipients may have funds returned on a pro-rata schedule. Non-attendance is not withdrawal; you must officially complete the withdrawal process. Contact Enrollment Services at enroll@ou.edu or (405) 325-4147.
