Old Dominion University student account questions
What happens if I have an unpaid balance at Old Dominion University?
If your tuition balance is 30 days past due, ODU assesses a 5% late penalty on the outstanding balance and places a financial hold on your account. If your past-due balance reaches $500 or more, an AH Financial Hold is placed, blocking you from registering for classes, adding or dropping courses, and making deferred payment arrangements. If the balance remains unpaid at 120 days past due, it is forwarded to a collections agency and a 25% collections fee is added. Contact Student Accounts at tuition@odu.edu or 757-683-3030 (MonβFri 8amβ4:30pm).
What holds can prevent me from registering at Old Dominion University?
ODU uses many hold types that block registration. Financial holds (AH) are placed when your past-due balance exceeds $500; AR holds apply for returned checks or collections-referred accounts. Academic advising holds (AD) are placed each November 1 and April 1 if you have not met with your advisor β required for all degree-seeking students. Admissions holds apply if paperwork is incomplete. Student Health Services (HS) holds are placed if immunization records are missing. Parking fines over $500 (PG) also block registration. Log in to LEO Online at leoonline.odu.edu to see all active holds and contact information for resolving each one.
Where can I check my holds and account balance at ODU?
Log in to LEO Online at leoonline.odu.edu with your MIDAS ID and password. You can view your account balance, outstanding holds, payment plan installment amounts, and due dates. Holds are updated every four hours after a payment is received; your account will be accessible the day after payment. Billing notices (e-bills) are also sent to your ODU student email.
Does ODU offer a payment plan, and how do I sign up?
Yes. ODU offers a 4-installment payment plan for Fall and Spring semesters only (not available for Summer). There is a $40 non-refundable setup fee, payable at enrollment. Set up the plan through LEO Online by the tuition deadline. If you miss an installment, you are removed from the plan and the full remaining balance becomes due immediately. You cannot enroll if you have a prior-term past-due balance or a financial hold on your account.
