Oberlin College student account questions

What happens if I have a past due balance at Oberlin?

If your term bill is not paid in full by the due date (July 22 for fall, December 22 for spring) or you are not current on a payment plan, Oberlin charges 1.5% monthly interest (19.62% APR) on all unpaid balances. A $250 late fee is also assessed in August (fall) and January (spring) on outstanding tuition balances. A financial hold is placed on your account, blocking registration, transcripts, and diploma access. Former students with unpaid balances may have their account referred to a collection agency. Contact the Office of Student Accounts at (440) 775-8457 or Carnegie Building #122.

What holds can prevent me from registering at Oberlin?

Any past due balance triggers a financial hold that blocks registration, transcripts, and diploma access — there is no minimum dollar threshold. Other holds may be placed by the AARC (academic standing, advising requirements) or other offices. Check your OberView portal (oberview.oberlin.edu) for active holds. For financial holds, contact Student Accounts at Carnegie Building #122. For advising or academic holds, contact the AARC at aarc@oberlin.edu or (440) 775-8450.
