What happens if I have an unpaid balance at NJIT?
NJIT places a financial hold on accounts that are not paid in full, blocking registration, grade viewing, transcript release, and diploma receipt. A $250 late payment penalty may also be assessed after the semester payment deadline. If your balance becomes delinquent, NJIT may refer it to ECSI (pre-collections); if unresolved, it may be forwarded to an external collection agency or law firm. What holds can prevent me from registering at NJIT?
Registration holds at NJIT include: financial/Bursar holds (for outstanding balances — note: a balance under $500 from the current semester only may still permit registration), AR-Accounts Receivable holds (placed on all accounts with balances after the 100% refund period), advisor holds, academic standing holds, and immunization holds. Check your active holds in the Highlander Pipeline (portal.njit.edu). To resolve a financial hold, contact the Bursar at bursar@njit.edu or 973-596-2877.
Where can I check my balance and holds at NJIT?
Log in to the Highlander Pipeline (portal.njit.edu / my.njit.edu) using your UCID and password. You can view your account balance, billing statements, and active holds. NJIT sends official billing notices electronically (eBill) to your NJIT email address — failure to review your eBill is not an excuse for nonpayment.
