Nicholls State University student account questions
What happens if I have an unpaid balance at Nicholls State University?
If your account balance exceeds $200, Nicholls will place a registration hold on your account, preventing you from registering for future terms. If your balance exceeds $300, Nicholls will cancel your entire class schedule on the published cancellation date each term. Students with unpaid balances cannot receive official transcripts. Delinquent accounts may be referred to the Louisiana Attorney General's Office or an outside collection agency. Contact the Fee Collection Center at feecollections@nicholls.edu or call 985-448-4058, Mon–Fri, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
What holds can prevent me from registering at Nicholls State University?
A financial hold is placed when your account balance exceeds $200. Accounts referred to the Attorney General for collection also receive a permanent registration hold until all debt is cleared. Before registering each term, you must also accept the Financial Responsibility Obligation Agreement (FROA) through Action Item Processing in Banner Self-Service. To view your holds, log in to myNicholls and access Banner Self-Service. For financial holds, contact the Fee Collection Center at feecollections@nicholls.edu or 985-448-4058.
Does Nicholls State University offer a payment plan?
Yes, Nicholls offers an installment payment plan through Heartland (Touchnet) for fall and spring terms. You must pay 50% of tuition and fees plus a non-refundable $50 service charge before the end of the registration period to enroll. The remaining balance is paid in two 25% installments in October/November (fall) or March/April (spring). Missing a payment triggers a $25/month late fee (max $100 total). Payment plans are not available for summer-only, winter session, or Nicholls Online students. Contact the Fee Collection Center at feecollections@nicholls.edu or 985-448-4058.
What is the refund policy if I withdraw from Nicholls State University?
If you officially resign (withdraw from all classes), a credit adjustment is calculated from your resignation date. For Fall 2025: 100% refund through August 22; 50% August 23–September 5; 0% after September 5. For Spring 2026: 100% through January 26; 50% January 27–February 6; 0% after February 6. Dropping individual classes after registration closes results in no tuition refund. Federal financial aid recipients withdrawing before completing 60% of the term may need to return aid. Contact the Fee Collection Center at feecollections@nicholls.edu or 985-448-4058.
