Payment plan enrollment fee: $100 Returned payment fee: $40 FRA required: No Billing cycle: Semester-based; fees due and payable at time of registration. Refund schedule: Withdrawals before the first day of classes: no tuition charges, but prorated room/board charges apply. Withdrawals on or after first day: prorated tuition charges for that semester, plus prorated room/board and Supercard charges per the JSU Class Schedule Booklet refund dates. Non-attendance policy: Non-attendance alone does not constitute withdrawal. Students are dropped from classes for non-payment by deadline, failure to complete/accept financial aid documents, or administrative exclusion. Your inbox is full of noise. Even if you check it every day, that one financial aid deadline or registration hold notice is easy to miss in the flood.

Jackson State University student account questions

What happens if I have an unpaid balance at Jackson State University?

All fees are due and payable at the time of registration. If you have a previous balance over $200, you must enroll in the payment plan, which requires a 25% down payment plus a $100 non-refundable enrollment fee. If you miss a scheduled payment plan installment, JSU will place a hold on your account that can prevent you from registering for future classes. Students with unresolved non-payment may be purged (dropped) from classes. Contact the Business Office at bursarcares@jsums.edu or 601-979-2216 to discuss your options.

What holds can prevent me from registering at Jackson State University?

Registration holds at JSU can include financial holds (unpaid tuition/fees or missed payment plan installment), advisor holds, and academic standing holds. To see your holds, log into your PAWS account. Contact the appropriate office to clear each hold: for financial holds, contact the Business Office at bursarcares@jsums.edu or 601-979-2216; for advisor holds, contact your UAAC academic advisor at advising@jsums.edu or 601-979-2127. Resolve holds before drop/add periods end to avoid being dropped from classes.

How does the JSU payment plan work?

JSU offers a semester installment payment plan that splits your balance into equal monthly payments. It costs $100 (non-refundable) to enroll — no finance charges are assessed. You must pay the first installment (25% of balance + $100) to complete registration. Enroll through your Thee Portal account or PAWS. Only one payment plan per student per semester is allowed, and payments must be made by credit or debit card with auto-deduction for remaining installments.
