Hartnell College student account questions
What happens if I have an unpaid balance at Hartnell College?
If you have outstanding enrollment fees after the start-of-term payment deadline (approximately 5–6 weeks into the semester), Hartnell will place a Business Hold on your account that can prevent you from registering for future classes. If the balance remains unpaid, Hartnell may submit the debt to COTOP (California Community Colleges Tax Offset Program), which allows the state to intercept your tax refund, lottery winnings, or unclaimed property. You will receive a 30-day notice letter before your account is submitted. To pay your balance, visit PAWS Self Serve online or contact the Cashier’s Office at cashiers@hartnell.edu or 831-755-6998.
What holds can prevent me from registering at Hartnell College?
A Business Hold is placed on your account for any outstanding enrollment fee balance after the start-of-term payment deadline. This hold blocks registration for future classes. Log in to My Hartnell (PAWS Self Serve) and look for a hold notice in the top-right corner when registering. Other holds (from advisors, library, parking, etc.) may also appear in PAWS Self Serve with instructions on how to clear them. To resolve a Business Hold, pay your balance under Student Finance > Make a Payment, or contact the Cashier’s Office at cashiers@hartnell.edu or 831-755-6998.
Where can I check my account balance and holds at Hartnell College?
Log in to My Hartnell (PAWS Self Serve) at hartnell.login.duosecurity.com (requires DUO MFA). Under Student Finance, select ‘Account Summary by Term’ to see your balance by semester. When you try to register, any active hold will appear in the top-right corner with the reason.
