Gateway Technical College student account questions

What happens if I have an unpaid balance at Gateway Technical College?

Per Gateway board policy, a financial hold is placed on your account for any debt over $500, preventing you from registering for future classes and receiving your diploma. You are expected to pay any outstanding balance by the end of each semester. If your balance remains unpaid 30 days after the semester-end statement date, Gateway may refer your account to an outside collection agency and/or the Wisconsin Department of Revenue State Debt Collections (SDC) program. Collection fees can reach up to 33.5% of your outstanding balance plus attorney fees, and the debt may be reported to credit bureaus. Contact Student Services at sscontactcenter@gtc.edu or 1-800-247-7122 to discuss options.

What holds can prevent me from registering at Gateway Technical College?

A financial hold is placed on your account when your debt exceeds $500, blocking registration for future terms and withholding your diploma. Other holds can apply for library fines, parking violations, or returned checks. Students who received federal financial aid and withdrew early may also face a hold until repayment brings their balance to $500 or less. Log in to My Gateway (Financial Information card) to see your current balance and holds. To resolve a financial hold, contact Student Services at sscontactcenter@gtc.edu or 1-800-247-7122.
