Hold Policy

Hold threshold (registration): $1000 Hold blocks: registration, transcripts, diploma Hold threshold notes: Registration blocked if balance >$1,000 from prior term. Official transcripts, diplomas, and future services withheld until account is current. No published dollar threshold for diploma or cancellation hold — EOU does not auto-cancel registration; student must request. Late fee trigger discrepancy: FAQ states $50 penalty if 1/3 not paid within first 14 days; FRA/payment page state $50 applies if half not paid by Monday of Week 4. FRA is the authoritative document. Late fee: $50 flat Late fee recurring: No Collections fee: $25 institutional collection fee; up to 33% if referred to collection agency plus reasonable attorneys fees Collections notes: FRA states: $25 institutional collection fee first; then account may be referred to collection agency with fees up to 33% of debt plus reasonable attorneys fees. Credit bureau reporting also possible. Returned payment fee: $30 FRA required: Yes FRA notes: All students have an active Revolving Charge Agreement as part of their Financial Responsibility Agreement, signed electronically at enrollment. Not confirmed as annual re-signing requirement. Billing cycle: Monthly billing statements mailed at the beginning of each month during the term. Students can also view account balance 24/7 via Mountie Hub / Transact Payment Portal. Refund schedule: Week 1 end: 100%; Week 2 end: 85%; Week 3 end: 50%; Week 4 end: 25%; After Week 4: 0%. Financial aid recipients who withdraw before completing 60% of term must return unearned federal aid. Non-attendance policy: Students who never attended class and have not paid tuition or fees may cancel registration up to end of first week. Otherwise, non-attendance does not constitute withdrawal — students remain responsible for tuition and fees and will receive grades.

Eastern Oregon University student account questions

What happens if I have an unpaid balance at EOU?

If you miss the Week-4 payment deadline, a $50 Late Payment Penalty is assessed and a Balance Due Hold is placed on your account. This hold can restrict registration, transcripts, diplomas, and other services. If you owe more than $1,000 from a prior term, you may be denied registration or dropped from classes. Interest accrues at 1% per month (12% APR) on balances more than 30 days old. If no arrangements are made, a $25 institutional collection fee may be assessed and the account referred to a collection agency with fees up to 33%. Contact Student Financial Services: cashier@eou.edu | (541) 962-3590.
