What happens if I don't pay my tuition bill at UMD?
If your tuition is not paid by your billing due date, UMD charges a $40 late fee for each billing cycle the bill goes unpaid, and a hold is placed on your account that can prevent future registration and make you ineligible for current or future financial aid. If unpaid through the 3rd billing due date (1st for May/summer), the account may be reviewed for collection — fees can reach 40%. How do I check for holds on my UMD account and how do I resolve them?
Log in to MyU (myu.umn.edu) via the My Finances tab to view your account balance and any active holds. Financial holds from unpaid balances can prevent future registration, bookstore charges, and financial aid eligibility. To resolve a financial hold, contact One Stop Student Services (23 Solon Campus Center, 218-726-8000, Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pm) or Student Financial Services (129 Darland Administration Building, 218-726-8103).
Does UMD require a financial responsibility agreement before I can register?
Yes. UMD requires an e-business agreement (Student Financial Obligations and Responsibilities) that you sign through MyU. By signing it and registering for classes, you enter a legally-binding contract to pay all tuition and fees including non-refundable fees.
