Collections notes: If CNM's internal collection efforts fail, account sent to external collections agency. Student responsible for collection costs including reasonable attorney's fees. CO (Acct at Collections) hold placed, blocking registration, graduation, and grades. Contact Cashier's Office at (505) 224-3471 for agency information. Payment plan enrollment fee: $10 Returned payment fee: $30 FRA required: Yes FRA notes: All students must accept the Financial Responsibility Agreement before registering for the first time each term (required since Fall 2015). Students cannot register without accepting. Agreement available at cnm.edu/depts/finance-operations/business-office/cashier/documents/financial-responsibility-agreement.pdf Billing cycle: Payment due by published deadlines each term. Bills viewable via Student Account Center in myCNM (Cashier tab). No monthly billing cycle — deadline-based system. Central New Mexico Community College student account questions

What happens if I don't pay my tuition by the deadline at CNM?

If CNM has not received payment and you haven't set up a payment plan by the listed deadline, you will be dropped from your classes. After that, unpaid balances result in a hold (AR or CS code) on your account, blocking registration, graduation, and grades. If CNM's internal collection efforts fail, your account may be sent to a collections agency and you will be responsible for collection costs including reasonable attorney's fees. Contact the Cashier's Office at (505) 224-3471 or cnmcashiers@cnm.edu to resolve a balance.

Does CNM offer a payment plan to spread out tuition costs?

Yes. CNM offers a payment plan for balances over $100, available through your myCNM account (Cashier tab → Student Account Center). The plan costs $50 to set up: a non-refundable $10 setup fee plus a $40 down payment applied to your balance. The remaining amount is split into two equal installments. For Fall 2026, installments are due September 25 and October 23. For help, call the Cashier's Office at (505) 224-3471.

Do I need to sign a Financial Responsibility Agreement before registering at CNM?

Yes. Since Fall 2015, all students are required to accept CNM's Financial Responsibility Agreement prior to registering for the first time each term. If you do not accept the agreement, you will not be able to register. The agreement commits you to paying tuition and fees in exchange for CNM's educational services. A copy is available at cnm.edu/depts/finance-operations/business-office/cashier/documents/financial-responsibility-agreement.pdf

If I stop attending a class, will CNM automatically drop me?

No. CNM will not automatically drop you from classes you stop attending. You are responsible for officially dropping any classes you do not plan to attend. You may receive a failing grade in a class even if you do not attend. You are also responsible for any charges associated with classes you remain registered for. Drop deadlines are determined by session length — for 12-16 week courses, the 100% refund period ends on the 10th business day of the session.
