Binghamton University student account questions

What happens if I have an unpaid balance at Binghamton University?

If your account has a past due balance and you are not on a payment plan, Binghamton may place an Accounts Receivable (AR) hold on your account. AR holds block future course registration and receipt of your diploma. Holds are placed on scheduled dates each semester and cleared only when the balance is paid in full. Per SUNY policy, seriously past due accounts may be sent to a collection agency and/or the NY State Attorney General, where additional fees may apply. Contact Student Accounts at stuaccts@binghamton.edu or 607-777-2702.

What holds can prevent me from registering at Binghamton University?

Various holds can block registration at Binghamton, including: financial holds (unpaid tuition, fees, parking fines, or library fines — contact Student Accounts at stuaccts@binghamton.edu), immunization/health holds (unmet health requirements), and other administrative holds. To see your active holds, log in to BU Brain at bubrain.binghamton.edu and check the Registration Status card. Each hold shows the responsible office and what it blocks.
