Barnard College student account questions
What happens if I have an unpaid balance at Barnard?
Barnard assesses progressive late payment fees starting at $75 the day after the payment deadline, increasing by $10 every subsequent week. Late payment may result in a hold on registration, housing, and dining. If your balance remains unresolved and you have not registered by the semester deadline, the College may automatically de-enroll you. There is no grace period. Contact the Bursar at bursar@barnard.edu or 212-854-2026.
Does Barnard offer a payment plan?
Yes. Barnard offers a five-month semester payment plan through Nelnet Campus Commerce with a $50 non-refundable enrollment fee per semester. The first payment for Fall is due by August 4. Nelnet will not automatically adjust your budget if you incur additional charges. Contact Nelnet at 1-888-251-3597 or enroll via the Barnard Nelnet portal.
Who do I contact about my tuition bill at Barnard?
Contact the Office of the Bursar: bursar@barnard.edu or 212-854-2026. Hours are Monday-Friday 10:00am-4:00pm, located in Milbank Hall Room 007. Email to schedule an in-person visit. For financial aid questions, contact finaid@barnard.edu or 212-854-2154.
What is Barnard's withdrawal refund policy?
If you officially withdraw and have been enrolled for 60% or less of the semester, your charges will be prorated based on days enrolled. If enrolled more than 60% of the term, you are not eligible for any reduction in charges. Federal Title IV financial aid must be returned first. Withdrawal requires forms with the Deans Office, Residential Life, and the Bursar.
